BLOG
Our aim is to assist the enquiring public to understand the structure of Self-Responsibility, leading to Self-Realisation, as well as to remind ourselves of critical factors we sometimes unintentionally overlook. Therefore this blog exists; in order to vary our angles of understanding and perception that help us unfold. It's the teachings in a nutshell, so to speak.
The Gururaj Ananda Foundation inaugural meeting in 1989
♥It's beneficial to allow freedom of thought such that 'anything is possible'. We can thus recognise we are not confined to the coerced upbringing of best education, aiming for best achievements, which often causes a huge self-limitation Having no limitation of thought, it's easier to accept nothing is a true reality; a presence. In this way we break down restrictive thought spirals.
Contemplate, discriminate, affirm.
♥The continuous unchanging IT is what we seek but cannot find, because we seek it with the mind. Beyond the mind is full awareness. The mind can be dropped temporarily when devotion to spiritual practices brings about a change in perspective.
♥We can try continuously to stop imagining a me surrounded by what we consider 'mine'. We actually flow better with our subtle energy without the me.
♥Coming to terms with truth is acceptance. Avoiding truth is an attempt to escape, which will never work. Avoiding it is the same as saying, "I prefer the suffering to continue so I'll continue to look in the escape tunnels, despite knowing they are all cul-de-sacs."
♥Happenings happen but they are not what the mind interprets them to be
♥Nothing can hurt us if our mind is balanced. Only true love exists. by-passing true love causes the hurt. True love is the ALL energy. Hence the saying ' true love is all.' That energy is all encompassing, whole, not fragmented.
♥Stop the story, storyteller! All suffering is caused by trying to escape INTO a story. The gluey, messy illusion can't clean up like this because there is no story, in reality. Come into truth, Truth is simple but we add stuff to form a complicated un-truth.
♥Is knowledge what we read and facts remembered or is it what teachers teach us - or is it truth? This question deserves endless contemplation; thus arming us with a short-cut to the cessation of suffering.
♥Self realisation, which brings about non-suffering, cannot be taught. However, the same result can be brought about by teaching the mind to unlearn everything we think we know. We call it unconditioning.
♥Coming to terms with truth is acceptance. Avoiding it is an attempt to escape, which will never work. Avoiding it is the same as saying, "I prefer the suffering to continue so I'll continue to look in the escape tunnels, despite knowing they are all cul-de-sacs."
♥Sept' 2021
‘Chief of the Chant, King of Teachers’, Peter Moore, is aged 100 on September 13th. He attributes his longevity to good clean living and meditation every day. A likely story! Peter, one of Preatam’s closest allies in the UK, was teacher of our meditation course to more than 600 beginners and hundreds of advanced students; teacher trainer for BMS for almost 20 years during his retirement. Devoted husband to Jean, who sadly passed aged 97 in 2018, for 75 years and father to Anthony.
Ineffable congratulations, Peter, our dear friend. You have lived an impeccable and valuable lifetime. You defended our Country and our freedom, flying 58 sorties 1941-1945, for which you were deservedly decorated (DFM) by King George V1. You have helped and healed thousands of your fellow beings, not least by your amazingly happy attitude. ‘Well done’ is simply inadequate for the praise you actuate. Much love comes your way today.

♥"Arise, awake and stop not 'til the goal is reached." - Swami Vivekananda, circa 1895
"And I will add on to that command ..... BE BRAVE." - Gururaj Ananda Yogi, circa 1985
♥If one imagines a me living an individual life on a planet, the image will not get resolved because it simply isn't true. We have to let go of all that; come out of the story, into the glory. Nothing exists other than multi-dimension-ness.
♥ With meditation and truth teachings, which go together like peas in a pod, we are not trying to transform ourselves into something else. We are picking up on what's already here.
♥ Acceptance is not a leap; not a 180º change. It's more a subtle assimilation of what is. Awakening happens as we take into account more possibilities in consciousness.
♥To 'get anywhere' with life we have to accept we are much greater than what appears to be solid matter (and isn't!). Meditation helps us build the strength to accept.
♥To the mind, there are two states of consciousness - 1) this illusion and 2) actual energy . In the illusion the mind thinks it knows something but it's imagination. In actuality, nothing is known. The mind doesn't want nothing, obviously, thus each individual has a difficult duty (dharma) to wipe away individuality. Hence we are on a hero's mission. But we can rely on our actuality to win the battle because inside we are certain the goal is freedom from the suffering caused by living the illusion.
♥Don't look FOR pure consciousness; look AT it.
♥Physical existence is akin to an outline on the edge of reality
♥When be-ing with Being, there's no personhood in attendance. No-thing is perfect, pure, real; ONE
♥A reminder list for the kitchen wall ('fridge etc.)
- Become your own guru
- Accept life as the illusion it is
- Welcome change
- Respect being (what is) as the only reality
- Drive away from suffering using continuous conscious effort
- Align with no-thing, which is everything
- The hero’s path feels unsafe but it isn’t
♥Doing is of the illusion; being is of the essence
♥We have to stop dreaming to end suffering. Our thinking is purely a self-produced movement of energy, which creates mirages in every direction out of the subtle energy particles the eyes can't see. Our five blunt senses ignore our Real Sense, which is totality. Refocusing on reality is not achieved by putting the attention on something else; it's done by letting go of the dream. All the lower dimensions are 100% illusory. Illusions are unhelpful, pointless and bewildering. For example we imagine an individual reading these words. An individual is as unreal as the things it thinks are needed. It's all balderdash. Human beings are perfectly capable of letting the energy just be itself, as opposed to continuing the story. We can stop the treadmill of desiring temporary solutions, which come from the suffering imaginary self. We turn off the film-show to feel the heart's power of indescribable love. Quote, "Just do it" unquote (Preatam)
♥There is no history. When we refer to our personal story it's something perceived now. What the mind thinks of as distance seems to be separate 'matter' but it all comes back to restricted consciousness imposed upon us by ourselves. Gururaj repeatedly reminded us we can shed this mistaken idea in an instant - and we should make conscious effort to do so.
♥Four words to keep in mind: 'IT'S ALL HERE NOW'. IT, as Gururaj often referred, is our real consciousness. ALL means all domains of consciousness, often referred to as dimensions. HERE and NOW need no explanation. Every cent of consciousness that ever was is present, wherever we go and whatever we are doing.
♥To effectively change what we perceive, we have to accept 100% that what we see, hear etc. is an illusion. Then we can train ourselves to view these images as a sort of video, a moving hologram of particles and waveforms that have no intention or outcome.
♥Pure consciousness isn't a safe haven for the mind. But the mind thinks it is and by doing this prevents awakening. Mind's mechanism has to be re-patterned, away from it's inbuilt habits, towards no-thing.
♥When we say 'I do not exist; nothing exists' it's true. A fragmented (contracted) energy is brought about by imagination, as if separate bits and pieces exist, without any foundation whatsoever. All we can do is dissolve this false impression. Preatam repeated countless times that it's very simple to do and we should focus on it stoically - but we'll do so only when we seriously want to get away from suffering.
♥Meditation doesn't bring you self-realisation; it's for building the strength to change your perspective - Preatam UK76-09
♥(in answer to an enquirer) The 5 Sattvic Keys won't come rushing to save you in 2 hours, like a lifeboat in a storm, but they might help abundantly in changing perspective
♥Is there a short-cut to Self-Realisation? Yes; continually hold on to the concept of where you are looking from. Is it the me angle or the wholeness angle?
♥The person who has smacked me is none other than me - Gururaj, Canada 1985-01
♥"I know that love. I am that love." Everyone can say this. The more you confirm this, truth emerges from your sleepiness. The mind says, 'make my health perfect', ' protect my child', 'keep this person next to me', 'get this, get that, blah blah blah'. All this reinforces the film show; something that isn't real. The cunning mind is so invasive, machine-gunning at the truth from here, there and everywhere. But it's nothing more than a stupid impostor bastard." - Preatam (From notes taken at informal discourse; The Hayes 1986)
♥(in answer to an enquirer) 'Forever new' is a pivotal factor in realising the Self. There's no history attached to pure consciousness because it's timeless and, although this one and only actuality is 'always the same', it's never old.
♥"There is no you and I and no me and mine" - Preatam UK76-01
♥Meditation isn't the answer to life. Absoluteness is the only (non-mind) state with any meaning. But meditation can help us with letting go of mind. What the mind interprets as the universe around us is a vortex of imagination, which has no point whatsoever. Solid matter is an apparency; a sort of mirage caused by certain heat and light conditions. When we drop the idea of this constricted-energy illusion, the absolute remains; obvious and re-cognised.
♥Real consciousness is always present and ever new
♥'Everything is one", is frequently repeated in our circles of satsang and friendship. A point of confusion sometimes arises here because of the mind imagining that all things are one thing. If so, we need to let go the idea of thing. It's better to affirm 'Isness is one or one-ness' and imagine things are nothing. In truth, all is Isness and there's no such thing as a thing.
♥Life itself lives. 'Little me' is foundation-less, inadequate, pointless. Live life
♥Come away from analysis, judgement and seeking. Pure consciousness is not even a nano millimetre away, yet we invent a path to it by imagination, founded by these three adjuncts.
♥The nature of energy is that it just flows. 'Mind' is a blocking of the flow, like a dam in a river, clinging to the blockage in order to preserve itself (attachment). Mind interprets facets of the energy as if they matter. When we participate in mind-stilling we try to free the flow. Free flowing energy is Real Love.
♥The mind never becomes entirely fearless, Even if you're calm it fears extinction. But your whole self is fearless and can overpower the mind, refining the ego by adopting a more real stance.
♥The mind can never know the ‘I’ but the mind can witness the ‘I’ knowing itself. When the ‘I’ is experienced it is the ‘I’ experiencing itself, not the mind. Train the mind away from thought - uncondition - to reveal the one true Self.
♥How much truth do we want or how much do we think we want? It’s a fair question this, especially for meditators who are trying to unify themselves will their Real Self.
To begin with, can you accept, or do you refuse to accept, that there is no such thing as a 3-dimensional being and there is no such thing as a mind? All energy is multi-dimensional; whole; free. We create ‘this’ in our imagination and then we cling to it.
Acceptance of truth is the key to freedom. Absolute acceptance is acceptance of the absolute. We can realise our whole self in a moment by doing this or, if we so choose, continue many lifetimes of suffering. Gururaj asked many times, “Why suffer, do you actually like it? Why not become less personal; become the observer? All troubles melt away when you realise what you really are.”
The decision is ours. We can usefully remind ourselves that giving up clinging isn’t giving up anything except imagination, which is untrue. In reality (in Real-Self consciousness) we gain so much and we lose nothing. We arrive home; free; perfect. Actually we are already there. The path and the journey never were.
So we don’t suffer any more after we truly accept, when surrender happens naturally. On this point, we can’t put our hands up and say, “I surrender”. Acceptance comes first, not the other way around.
Meditation is a tool we can use to build the fortitude and determination needed for acceptance and surrender. It can be a tough road, because of our clinging. We have to take the steps for ourselves though. Meditation and teachers can’t put us on automatic to realisation of the Self. (Quote) “You can only know thyself, thy real self, when you let go of your small self.”
While we base life on a ‘me’ we reinforce the barrier of limitation, blocking our liberation. We just need to shift our perspective to a non-personal perspective. “It’s so simple”, he often said, “not this but THAT. You ARE IT. Be determined; be brave. Let go of unreality.”
Constructed from satsangs and conversations with Gururaj Ananda Yogi (1932-1988)
♥Ofttimes, speaking to ourselves is enough. Affirmation should be encouraged. Meaningful ones can have a profound effect on unfoldment. For example(s): 'Actuality is'; 'me is imagination'; 'I am love'; 'I am fearless'. Affirmation can be contemplated or repeated too, at any time including after meditation, if preferred, when the mind is near thought-less - silently or aloud. The most valuable affirmations are those expressing truth about our absoluteness.
♥We are all seeking freedom. How do we achieve freedom? By unlearning everything - known as unconditioning - and accepting actuality as it IS.
